About our Goal

WHO ARE WE?
Downtown Princeton, Inc. (DPI) is an independent, 501(c)3 non-profit organization made up of community-minded people with a passion for Princeton’s downtown area.  DPI is dedicated to the improvement and preservation of Downtown Princeton by encouraging investment, development, and support of and by the merchants and business owners that are within the square and surrounding two blocks.

WHAT IS INDIANA MAIN STREET?
Indiana Main Street encourages the revitalization and restoration of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns. The program provides technical assistance and educational opportunities to participating communities. Indiana Main Street is the state’s coordinating program to the National Main Street Center.

WHAT DO WE DO?
As a certified Indiana Main Street Organization, DPI follows the Main Street Four-Point Approach to downtown improvement:

  • Design: Focusing on enhancing the physical appearance of Downtown Princeton by encouraging rehabilitation of historic buildings as well as new construction; creating attractive public spaces; and planning for cohesive future development.
  • Economic Development: Identifying new opportunities for the city center; finding new uses for historic commercial buildings; developing programs and projects to retain existing business; and stimulate investment in Downtown Princeton.
  • Promotion: Marketing Downtown Princeton as the center of commerce, culture, and community life for residents and visitors through events, tourism, branding, and other promotional efforts.
  • Organization: Creating an inclusive, grassroots effort to develop a sustainable organization for the Downtown Princeton revitalization effort.
